Just using the computer&#8217;s USB port as a power outlet seems rather pointless to me, given that you really can&#8217;t get much power out of a USB port.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, it&#8217;s obvious that there&#8217;s a market for all sorts of useless gadgets, such as the <a href=\"http:\/\/usb.brando.com\/usb-disco-ball-ii_p01039c035d015.html\">USB disco ball<\/a> (can you set it to operate only when you&#8217;re playing Donna Summer or The Village People in iTunes?) and the <a href=\"http:\/\/usb.brando.com\/prod_detail.php?prod_id=00286\">USB drink cooler<\/a> (which actually isn&#8217;t <em>quite<\/em> useless, even if they don&#8217;t say how long it takes to actually cool a drink).<\/p>\n<p>There are design concepts <a href=\"http:\/\/www.infoworld.com\/d\/adventures-in-it\/10-geeky-items-youre-embarrassed-admit-you-want-455&#038;current=5&#038;last=12#slideshowTop\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cio.com\/article\/501126\/20_Goofy_USB_Gadgets_Gizmos_You_ll_Love?page=8#slideshow\">here<\/a> for USB toasters. Given the power restrictions, I wonder how long it takes to actually produce a piece of toast using one of them.
