There are few veterans of the attack remaining; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/pacific\/news\/2011\/12\/07\/pearl-harbor-survivors-association.html\">the Pearl Harbor Survivor&#8217;s Associations is disbanding<\/a> because of it.<\/p>\n<p>It was a terrible day for the United States, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boatdesign.net\/forums\/open-discussion\/admiral-nimitz-three-mistakes-japan-made-pearl-harbor-38550.html\">it could have been much worse<\/a>. Note that the comments, however, state that some of what Admiral Nimitz said was incorrect.<\/p>\n<p>There doesn&#8217;t seem to be as much notice being taken of it this year as there was the last time it was a &#8220;round number&#8221; anniversary. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peekinthewell.net\/blog\/seventy-years-after-pearl\/\">Freeberg has some things to say<\/a> about the subdued nature of the remembrances this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s the 70th anniversary of the Japanese sneak attack on Pearl Harbor.
