With that in mind, I&#8217;d like to present <a href=\"http:\/\/thepeoplescube.com\/peoples-blog\/meet-russian-team-of-gold-winning-synchronized-swimmers-t9489.html\">the Russian synchronized swimming team<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I had no idea that lab techs had <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clickorlando.com\/news\/Lab-tech-parties-with-escaped-monkeys\/-\/1637132\/16224040\/-\/format\/rss_2.0\/-\/12ybs92z\/-\/index.html\">such fun on the job<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I have a lot of problems with President Obama, but I&#8217;m amazed and horrified to learn that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrericsir.com\/blog\/misc\/a-look-behind-obamas-mars-teleportation-scandal\/\">he&#8217;s covering up jump-gate technology to Mars<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.metafilter.com\/119015\/Cripes\">British boy&#8217;s comics are not doing well<\/a>. I used to read a number of them when I was a young boy in England, and for years I kept my copy of the 1962 <a href=\"http:\/\/books.littleoak.com.au\/boys_annuals\/eagle\/eagle.htm\">Eagle Annual<\/a>, but I think I lost it years ago.<\/p>\n<p>So, this guy in the Netherlands had his FaceBook page hacked by his younger brother. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=c-DTQPBUJJ4\">He got revenge<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1BXKsQ2nbno&#038;feature=related\">There&#8217;s a song<\/a> to teach you how to pronounce Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.<\/p>\n<p>Want to be a financial backer for a horror film? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/1972109475\/call-girl-of-cthulhu-a-lovecraft-inspired-horror-f\">Here&#8217;s your chance<\/a>. There&#8217;s even a pun in the title.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/1924516784\/colins-solo-amplified-cymbal-record-almost-exists\">another Kickstarter project (music this time)<\/a>, but I must say that this one seems a little &#8220;off&#8221; to me.<\/p>\n<p>Some people have <a href=\"http:\/\/forums.somethingawful.com\/showthread.php?threadid=3502448&#038;userid=0&#038;perpage=40&#038;pagenumber=1\">interesting jobs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, a product will garner all sorts of interesting reviews. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B004F9QBE6\/\">The &#8220;Bic Crystal for Her&#8221; pen is one such<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.curmudgeonlyskeptical.blogspot.com\/2012\/08\/borrow-my-pen.html\">These pens<\/a>, however, need no amusing review comments. Probably safe from borrowing, too.<\/p>\n<p>Max thinks <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eetimes.com\/electronics-blogs\/maxs-cool-beans-blog\/4376497\/Our-society-is-doomed\">our society is doomed<\/a>. I don&#8217;t disagree, but I do see the need.<\/p>\n<p>I may have to spend some time at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wallawalladada.com\/\">Museum of Unnatural History<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.waspsnest.com\/2012\/04\/27\/translation-joker-pure-genious\">This<\/a> is a cruel joke.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.waspsnest.com\/2012\/05\/22\/the-effects-of-pure-evil-on-teddy-bears\">Science project genius<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>Learning Japanese? <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thespectrum.net\/features\/mangajin\/\">Mangajin<\/a> was a good resource.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not into baseball, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.todayifoundout.com\/index.php\/2012\/07\/there-once-was-a-17-year-old-girl-who-struck-out-babe-ruth-and-lou-gehrig-back-to-back\/\">this<\/a> is a fascinating story.<\/p>\n<p>Cats don&#8217;t seem reliable enough for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.damninteresting.com\/operation-acoustic-kitty\/\">CIA to use them in surveillance<\/a>. That appears to have been borne out.<\/p>\n<p>There are no dangerous weapons, <a href=\"http:\/\/hosted.ap.org\/dynamic\/stories\/E\/EU_RUSSIA_MURDER_WITH_BRA?SITE=AP&#038;SECTION=HOME&#038;TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&#038;CTIME=2012-08-21-03-50-36\">only dangerous people<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are, however, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scribd.com\/doc\/6489457\/Cards-as-Weapons\">ludicrous weapons<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.boredpanda.com\/worst-logo-fails-ever\/\">Some logo designers need to be supervised<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Science and Technology<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/ptable.com\/\">dynamic periodic table of elements<\/a> is a fun toy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/Altoids-Tin-Pocket-Abacus\/\">How to make an abacus in an Altoids tin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/laughingsquid.com\/chinese-noodle-slicing-robot\/\">A Chinese noodle-slicing robot<\/a>. Evolutionary literature?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.edn.com\/electronics-blogs\/other\/4376468\/Oxygen-injections-could-allow-you-to-live-without-breathing\">Underwater living is becoming possible<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/newstopics\/howaboutthat\/9506450\/Chimpanzees-pass-down-a-secret-handshake.html\">The fraternal organization of chimpanzees<\/a>. No evidence of funny hats, though.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m a touch typist. I also have (and occasionally use) Dragon Naturally Speaking, which is a speech recognition input method. Soon, <a href=\"http:\/\/gizmodo.com\/5922208\/scientist-invent-mind+reading-machine-that-lets-you-type-with-your-brain\">we may be able to dispense with that<\/a>, also.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve long been interested in 3d displays. I still have a pair of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amiga-hardware.com\/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=769\">Haitex X-Specs<\/a> tucked away in my garage. I&#8217;m concerned about the durability of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/rs\/2012\/07\/02\/worlds-thinnest-3d-display-created-using-a-soap-bubble\/\">this one<\/a>, however.<\/p>\n<p>Could <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/sciencetech\/article-2167731\/Britains-Atlantis-North-sea--huge-undersea-kingdom-swamped-tsunami-5-500-years-ago.html#\">this<\/a> have been the source of the stories of Atlantis or Noah&#8217;s ark?<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d be interested in seeing this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timhunkin.com\/94_illegal_engineering.htm\">lecture on safes and safecracking<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m absolutely amazed by <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.discovermagazine.com\/notrocketscience\/2011\/11\/30\/how-fairy-wasps-cope-with-being-smaller-than-amoebas\/\">the size of fairy wasps<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I gave serious consideration to placing this discussion of <a href=\"http:\/\/michaelsiegel.net\/?p=5089\">women&#8217;s breasts and a general theory of ogling<\/a> in the &#8220;Fun Stuff&#8221; section.<\/p>\n<p>I was aware that we shared most of our DNA with chimpanzees. I was <em>not<\/em> aware that <a href=\"http:\/\/spectator.org\/archives\/2012\/08\/31\/are-men-who-dont-want-to-be-me\">most of the differences are on the Y chromosome<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I used to have a t-shirt that said, &#8220;Montserrat: Land of Beautiful Women and Mountain Chicken. I had not known that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/earth\/wildlife\/9435056\/Endangered-mountain-chicken-frogs-bred-in-London.html\">Mountain Chicken is a breed of frog<\/a>, though &#8230; I thought it was a nickname.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to have to watch <a href=\"http:\/\/technoccult.net\/archives\/2012\/08\/10\/short-documentary-on-the-diy-bodyhackingtranshumanist-underground\/\">this film<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is <a href=\"http:\/\/hackaday.com\/2012\/08\/12\/3d-printed-exoskeleton-helps-this-little-girl-develop-more-normal-body-function\/\">a neat (and heart-warming) use<\/a> of 3D printing technology.<\/p>\n<p>Something tells me that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcgamesn.com\/article\/why-i-m-uninstalling-windows-8\">this guy isn&#8217;t impressed with Windows 8<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Ridley <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/wiredscience\/2012\/08\/ff_apocalypsenot\/all\/\">isn&#8217;t too fearful of a looming apocalypse<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A lost species has been <a href=\"http:\/\/discovermagazine.com\/2012\/jul-aug\/06-ice-age-flower-blooms-again\">brought back to life<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newscientist.com\/article\/mg21528786.100-why-wood-pulp-is-worlds-new-wonder-material.html\">wood pulp is finding new use as a high-tech material<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Politics and Society<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t expect much in this section. This is already a long post, and this section could make it <em>much<\/em> longer. I don&#8217;t see the need to do that, particularly since anyone following politics on the internet has probably seen much of this already.<\/p>\n<p>So, <a href=\"http:\/\/wintersoldier2008.typepad.com\/summer_patriot_winter_sol\/2012\/08\/does-nobody-give-a-shit-that-recent-stories-confirm-that-george-bush-was-slandered-and-besmerched-by.html\">about those nonexistent Iraqi WMD<\/a> &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Do you know <a href=\"http:\/\/the-classic-liberal.com\/grand-theft-taxpayer\/\">how much you&#8217;re paying<\/a> in taxes? Some <a href=\"http:\/\/taxprof.typepad.com\/taxprof_blog\/2012\/08\/the-us-tax.html\">myths and misconceptions about tax rates<\/a> are addressed here. Meanwhile, <a href=\"http:\/\/directorblue.blogspot.com\/2012\/08\/the-ultimate-visual-guide-to-obamacare.html\">taxes are about to go up<\/a>. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=h_f20ZDBj5k\">Democrats have no plan<\/a>, and the White House says that <a href=\"http:\/\/directorblue.blogspot.com\/2012\/08\/the-big-lie-jay-carney-attacks-ryan.html\">the only plan out there doesn&#8217;t balance the budget fast enough<\/a> for them?<\/p>\n<p>Larger cuts than are currently proposed <a href=\"http:\/\/politicsandfinance.blogspot.com\/2012\/08\/warning-must-watch-video-on-how.html\">can&#8217;t balance the budget<\/a>. The necessary cuts would be incredibly massive, such that nobody would propose them, and nobody else would accept them.<\/p>\n<p>Then again, the <a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2012\/04\/29\/sessions-marks-three-years-without-budget-deliberate-plan-by-democrats\/\">Senate hasn&#8217;t passed a budget since April 29, 2009<\/a>. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.econlib.org\/library\/Enc1\/FederalBudget.html\">federal budget hasn&#8217;t been balanced at all since 1969<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Taxs aren&#8217;t the only thing going up; <a href=\"http:\/\/wyblog.us\/blog\/agw\/obama-econuts-conspire-anti-energy.html\">energy prices are<\/a>, also.<\/p>\n<p>Media bias is <a href=\"http:\/\/news.investors.com\/ibd-editorials-viewpoint\/082712-623715-one-sided-media-coverage-shows-bias.htm?p=full\">evidenced in many ways<\/a>. That&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maggiesnotebook.com\/2012\/08\/suzanne-barr-ice-chief-of-staff-accused-of-lewd-conduct-janet-napolitano-accused-of-running-female-frat-house\/\">not the only problem<\/a> with federal hiring\/appointments. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fireandreamitchell.com\/tag\/obama-czars\/\">Not by a long shot<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Interesting discussion on <a href=\"http:\/\/whiskeys-place.blogspot.com\/2010\/08\/how-female-oriented-is-network-tv.html\">the gender orientation of television shows<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Those &#8220;lice-infested, dirty murderers&#8221; &#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/blogs\/thetwo-way\/2012\/08\/14\/158773637\/leader-of-anti-semitic-party-in-hungary-discovers-hes-jewish?sc=tw&#038;cc=share\">like me<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/national\/nebraska-school-3-year-old-deaf-boy-sign-language-gesture-guns-change-video-article-1.1146024\">Another failure of zero-tolerance<\/a>.
