Will they play 4’33” at the funeral?

All levity aside, I’m sorry to see that Marcel Marceau has died. A minor note: the linked article is incorrect that he never spoke while in Bip persona – his was the only speaking part in Mel Brooks’ Silent Movie.

This should be a big story. Think it will be?

Hillary Clinton has hired Sandy Berger as a foreign policy advisor. I guess we’re all supposed to have forgotten what he did by now. And his security clearance can be restored soon, too. I commented (ranted, actually) about Sandy Berger more than three years ago.

Jim at Parkway Rest Stop won’t be voting for Hillary because of it. I consider it an absolutely valid reason. As far as I’m concerned, it’s grounds for restricting Hillary’s access to classified information.

It’s not the reason I won’t be voting for Hillary, although it would be, if I hadn’t made that decision (about Democrats, not specifically Hillary) three years ago, too. It means that I sometimes leave a lot of empty spaces on ballots, given where I live.

He died this week. In his honor, a link to the only film of “his” that I’ve seen in its entirety – De Düva (The Dove).

Should we call this Type 2 CRS?

We’ve raised a generation who can’t remember without assistance.

I’ve long been interested in memory improvement, and have acquired a number of books on memory improvement techniques. My favorite so far is this one. Still, I find it hard to remember something unless I have a specific need to do so (or enough interest to substitute for a need). I guess the point is that fewer people, particularly young ones, feel the need to remember anything their cellphone can remember for them.

Then again, isn’t that really the whole point behind organizers and planners?

More on Anthropogenic Global Warming

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

I linked a few days ago to Coyote’s post on the reliability of warming data. Since then, he has released version 1.0 of his Skeptical Layman’s Guide to Anthropogenic Global Warming. I’ve barely started it, but, based on his earlier posts on the subject, I expect that it will be pretty good.
