I haven’t updated this site in a few years. However, it’s Tuesday, the high today is well below freezing, and I’ve recently been reminded of some music that I enjoy. Let’s see if WordPress will let me embed some music videos, shall we?
I love Sergio Mendes and his music. Brasil ’66 was his group during my high school years and earlier, and Mais Que Nada is one of many songs I remember from back then.
I came across this version of Take Five several years ago, when Gerard Vanderleun featured it on his website. Different, and quite enjoyable.
Speaking of Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond, I found this video of Blue Rondo a la Turk in my YouTube recommends a couple of days ago. I recognized Hugh Hefner in the audience, and thought it was from a Playboy After Dark episode. It turns out that it’s actually from Playboy’s Penthouse, which was a show about a decade earlier than Playboy After Dark. Some episodes of both shows are available on line.
Finally, this song by the Moody Blues is the one that I decided, decades ago, to use as my theme music if I ever hosted one of those late-night “quiet talk and music” radio shows. Of course, at this point in my life, I think that’s a possibility that has passed me by, not that it was ever really an option.
