Too funny

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008I had a link to Skippy’s List (in a prior incarnation at a different URL) on my old website. I didn’t find out until just now that he’s got a blog, when I ran across a link to this story.

A learning experience
Monday, April 7th, 2008I entered a contest recently. I didn’t win, but I had fun.
I had to learn how to use iMovie, which turns out to be a toy I’ll probably use more now that I’ve learned enough to be dangerous.
If you’re interested, you can find all of the contest entries here. I’m #48. The entries that impressed me the most are #3, #19, and #22.
What time is it, Eccles?
Monday, April 7th, 2008Time to listen to The Goon Show, which I consider to be the cultural predecessor to Monty Python.
A few years ago, I provided Clint, who did the UPS route that serviced our office, with a CD of various shows and related recordings. Some time later, he told me that his son had enlisted a friend to perform the sketch referenced in the title for his school talent show.
I think I’d have enjoyed seeing that.

I might have known
Wednesday, February 27th, 2008It’s not a terribly uncommon name. I’ve never actually met anyone with my name, but I’ve come close. I have a couple of cookbooks on my shelves written by someone with the exact first, middle, and last name I have. When I was a senior in high school, we had a student transfer in whose name was Wheeler Ronald Stevens, which is eerily close to being mine in reverse (my middle name is Robert).
I keep thinking that I should someday write an autobiography for my “about” page that uses the results from a Google search to produce a life history that is more interesting (if totally fanciful) than my own. Given that one of the people who comes up when you search on one of the variants of my name is an ice-skating stage magician, that wouldn’t be hard to do, and might turn out to be quite fascinating.
